We built NorseStar to answer one question in real time: who is attacking whom, right now — and how much of it is being driven by machines.
NorseStar Security was founded in 2021 in Foster City, California, by threat-intelligence veterans who had spent a decade watching attack-map "visibility" promise more than it delivered. They set out to build the opposite: a sensor network large enough, and a data pipeline honest enough, that the picture on the screen is the picture on the wire.
Five years on, the Bifrost sensor grid spans 184 countries and 8.2 million sensors, feeding the DarkWatch platform a live view of global attack traffic — increasingly the work of autonomous, AI-driven offensive tooling. Today NorseStar operates the largest dedicated threat-intelligence network in the industry, and partners with SANS to power the hands-on range behind SEC590.
Dagny Holt and Soren Vang stand up the first 10,000 Bifrost sensors and the earliest DarkWatch prototype.
Longship Partners leads a seed round; the DarkWatch Live attack map opens to a public beta and a SOC-wall mode.
Asgard Capital leads the Series B. The sensor grid crosses one million nodes and RuneFeed enters private preview.
RuneFeed Intelligence and the first Valkyrie AI triage models ship; the Austin operations center opens.
Midgard Ventures leads the Series C. DarkWatch 3.0 adds AI-attack classification and the Yggdrasil attribution graph; London and Singapore offices open.
The network reaches 8.2M sensors across 184 countries and powers the live range for the SANS SEC590 course on AI-driven penetration testing.
NorseStar has raised $190M across seed, Series B, and Series C from investors who build security companies for the long run.
Led NorseStar's Series C. Backed three threat-intelligence companies through acquisition and sits on the audit committee.
Series B lead investor. Twenty years funding infrastructure and security software across two continents.
Former director of a national CERT. Advises NorseStar on responsible disclosure and government engagement.
